Island Green Golf Club

We would like to thank our members for a great 2009 season . It has been a great experience getting to know each of you . We are blessed to have a wonderful group of members and we look forward to getting to know you better in 2010 .

This is a very exciting year for us as we will have our full 9 holes completed . The last hole will be open in June of this year . The hole will play as # 6 on the front 9 and # 15 on the back 9 . It will be a short dogleg left , playing over water with a tricky downhill shot to the green , with woods on the left and right and out of bounds behind the green . The hole will play 220 yds. and 225 yds. And promises to be a challenge to even the best of golfers .A well placed tee shot will set you up for a nice par or birdie . I know it will be a lot of fun to play .

We will be making a big move early in the season with a new location for our starter .We will be moving to the main building and starting from there at the old # 8 par 3 this will now be the # 1 hole .That will make the finishing hole the par 4 along the driveway the old # 7 now # 9 .We will be working on this pro shop area throughout the year .There will be some golf supplies , canteen\ snacks , beverages , club storage and a washroom .

We are pleased to announce that Dana Wong will be joining us here at Island Green Golf Club as our professional golf instructor . Dana also brings with him his skills as a professional club maker . Dana has the tools and knowledge to custom fit you with a set of clubs that is perfect for your swing . He will also be on hand to do any club repairs and regriping of your clubs . Dana will be starting to give lessons at the beginning of the 2010 season . So call and set up a lesson and get started on the right foot , before you remember the bad habits from last year .

And receive a FREE pass to a golf clinic being held by Dana Wong our professional golf instructor . This will give you a good chance to get a jump on your game and to get to know Dana . His in depth knowledge of the golf swing will surely enhance your game .

All players must have a handicap , if no handicap the player
will be assigned a 9 hole handicap of 3 . Cost $5.00 per golfer

just show up and we will do our best to find you a partner . Top
3 scores will be posted each

Golf League This year we will be starting a 1^st of its kind golf league . We hope you will consider joining , it will be a good time . We look forward to getting this started and have had positive feedback so far . So start getting your teams together and I will look forward to signing your team up . If you are a single player wishing to play call and we will do our best to get you on a team .We will also need players for a spare list .

- Each player must have an established handicap . Golfers can establish one by playing 5 rounds before June 1 .

- Each team should have a spare golfer in the event a team member can not make it .

- All spares must have a handicap . We hope to have a list of spares that you may call .

Each team of 4 will chose 2 players to play against 2 players from another team . They will tee off then the remaining 2 players from each team will tee off . Handicaps will be used to make all teams equal .

The game that will be played is called 2 ball . Each player will play his own ball and must hole out on every hole , then chose the best score on each hole for your team score .

Cost : Will be $5.00 per night for members and $15.00 per night for nonmembers .If a player can not make a game they must get a spare the spare will be responsible for the $5.00 or $15.00 .All money collected will be used for trophies and a banquet at the end of the season .Any remaining money would be returned to the golfers in the form of a gift certificate .League will start Mon. June 7 and end Aug.26 . Followed by playoffs .Games will be played every Mon. and Thurs. at 6pm.. All players scores must be marked down and the best score from each team of 2 marked down as their team score . After 9 holes the scores will be totaled less the stroke diff. In handicaps . Handicaps will be on scorecards when cards are picked up . Winner of front 9 holes = 2 points , back 9 =2 points total of 18 holes 2 points using handicaps . Front 9 will be played on Mon. and the back 9 on Thurs. All teams will play each team once for a total of 24 games . The top 2 teams will play 18 holes to determine the 2010 League Champions . All scores and team standings will be posted each week .
